Description

Sodium chlorate has a strong oxidizing effect in acidic solutions and decomposes at temperatures above 300 degrees to produce oxygen. It is unstable, easily burns and explodes when mixed with phosphorus, sulfur and organic matter, easily absorbs moisture and agglomerates on impact. In industry, it is mainly used to produce chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorite, perchlorate and other chlorates.
