Sodium formate brine produces non-corrosive drilling and completion fluids that are stable in HTHP operations. Sodium formate brine stabilizes shale, prolongs polymer stability and improves wellbore stability. Sodium formate brine improves well productivity due to its excellent in-situ compatibility with formation fluids. Sodium formate brine is an excellent, environmentally friendly, high-density, chloride-free alternative to traditional high-density brines.

Sodium formate fluids are excellent shale stabilizers for water-sensitive clay/shale formations and clay-bearing sandstones. They are an environmentally friendly alternative to chloride brines.
