sodium stearate

Sodium stearate is an organic, white, oily powder with a smooth feel and a fatty odor. Easily soluble in hot water or hot alcohol. The aqueous solution is alkaline due to hydrolysis, while the alcohol solution is neutral. It is prepared by reacting octadecanoic acid and sodium hydroxide. Solubility: Easily soluble in hot water and hot ethanol, slowly soluble in cold water and cold ethanol. Insoluble in ether, light gasoline, acetone and similar organic solvents. It is also insoluble in electrolyte solutions such as salt and sodium hydroxide.

Use :

Used in the production of toothpaste and as a water repellent and plastic stabilizer.

Used in the production of soap-based detergents and as an emulsifier in cosmetics.

It is present in many types of solid deodorants, rubber, latex paint and inks. It is also found in some dietary supplements and seasonings. It is also used as a surfactant in the pharmaceutical industry to increase the solubility of hydrophobic compounds in the production of various oral foams.

1. Detergent: Used to control foam formation during rinsing. (Sodium stearate is the main ingredient in soap)

2. Emulsifiers or dispersants: Used to emulsify polymers and as mild antioxidants.

3. Corrosion inhibitor: Polyethylene packaging film provides protective properties.

4. Cosmetics: shaving gel, transparent viscose, etc.

5. Glue: Used as a natural adhesive for gluing paper sheets together.

Store in a closed, cool, dry and ventilated place with strong odor. It easily dissolves in hot water or alcohol and has water absorption in air. The solution becomes alkaline due to hydrolysis. It should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated place.
