Difference Between EDTA and Disodium EDTA

Mar 06, 2021

1. The state is different at room temperature.

EDTA is a white powder at normal temperature and pressure, and disodium EDTA is white crystalline particles or powder.

2. Solubility varies in different solvents.

EDTA is soluble in sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate and ammonia solution, soluble in boiling water, slightly soluble in cold water, insoluble in alcohol and common organic solvents. Disodium EDTA is soluble in water, almost insoluble in ethanol and ether.

3. The main uses are different.

EDTA is used as a detergent, blood anticoagulant, complexing agent and pH adjuster in plating solution. Disodium EDTA is primarily used as a complexing agent.
